2011 TOUR ITINERARY
 
DAY 1 THU ZAGREB

Arrive in the Croatian capital and meet your driver

for a transfer to your hotel. In the evening, join your

fellow travellers and Tour Director for a welcome

meeting and dinner at the hotel. Overnight at Hotel

Dubrovnik or similar (4-star). (D)

 
DAY 2 FRI ZAGREB

After breakfast, embark on a comprehensive city

tour of Zagreb featuring the historic Upper Town,

St. Marks Church, Zagreb Cathedral, the Parliament

and Government Palace. After lunch at a local

restaurant, the afternoon and evening are free for

further exploration. (B, L)

 
DAY 3 SAT ZAGREB BREICE - BLED

This morning you travel towards Bled. On the way,

stop at the picturesque Slovene town of Breice for a

tour of a 16

th century castle built by the Habsburgs.

 

Upon arrival in Bled, you will have an afternoon tour

including a traditional pletna ride on Lake Bled to the

iconic 15th century church. Tonight, enjoy dinner at

Bled Castle, perched on a cliff high above the lake.

Note: due to international rowing competition in

Bled, accommodation may be in nearby Bohinj on

the 1-18 September tour.

 
DAY 4 SUN BLED / JULIAN ALPS

On todays full-day excursion, discover Slovenias

enchanting alpine region. Passing through Kranjska

Gora, you travel to the highest Slovene mountain

pass where you marvel at the beautiful scenery of

the Julian Alps. The journey continues through the

Trenta Valley, and after lunch in the small town of

Bovec, the road will take you back to Bled for an

evening at leisure. (B, L)

 
DAY 5 MON BLED - LJUBLJANA

This morning you depart for Ljubljana. Start your day

with a walking tour of the Slovenian capital and its

Old Town. You will also take a funicular to Ljubljana

Castle to admire the stunning views over the town.

You have free time in the afternoon before dinner at

a local restaurant. Overnight at Grand Hotel Union

Executive or similar (4-star). (B, D)

 
DAY 6 TUE LJUBLJANA POSTOJNA

OPATIJA

From Ljubljana, you continue to Postojna, home of

one of Europes largest subterranean cave systems,

where you will have a guided tour. You will also visit

nearby Predjama Castle, then travel to the exclusive

resort town of Opatija, former Riviera of the Austrio-

Hungarian aristocracy. After check-in, you will have a

walking tour and dinner at a local restaurant.

DAY 7 WED OPATIJA / PULA ROVINJ

Today you will tour the Istrian Peninsula and its

medieval towns that still retain their Venetian

heritage. First, drive along the peninsulas coast to

ancient Pula which was founded over 3,000 years

ago and see its famous amphitheatre. Then travel to

'picture-book' Rovinj where you will have a tour of

the Old Town and Church of Saint Euphemia. After

lunch at a local restaurant, return to Opatija for a

free evening. (B, L)

 
DAY 8 THU OPATIJA - PLITVICE

After breakfast, your coach will take you on a scenic

drive to Plitvice Lakes National Park, a UNESCO

World Heritage Site. Take a walking tour and admire

the breathtaking scenery of sixteen terraced lakes

connected by cascading waterfalls. The afternoon is

free to further explore this magnificent park,

followed by dinner at a local restaurant. Overnight

at Hotel Jezero or similar, located a few minutes

walk to the lakes (3-star). (B, D)

 
DAY 9 FRI PLITVICE TROGIR

Depart Plitvice and drive through ever-changing

landscapes as you travel to Trogir. En route, stop at

a winery in provincial Brbich where you will taste

excellent local wines. Arrive in Trogir for a

sightseeing tour of this ancient artistic centre, then

experience typical Dalmatian food at one of Trogirs

local restaurants. Overnight at Hotel Palace or

DAY 10 SAT TROGIR SPLIT

You start the day by travelling to the nearby port city

of Split for a tour that will include the historic Old

Town built around Diocletian's Palace, a UNESCO

World Heritage Site. Lunch will be served at a local

restaurant followed by some free time before

boarding your private vessel,

DAY 11 SUN CRUISE: SPLIT MAKARSKA

BRAC

This morning you set sail for Brac, stopping en route

in the beautiful horse-shoe bay of Makarska which

is surrounded by the Biokovo Mountains. Lunch is

served onboard while you continue the journey to

Brac, the largest island in Dalmatia. Evening at leisure. (B, L)

DAY 12 MON CRUISE: BRAC HVAR

You depart after breakfast and cruise towards to the

island of Hvar, the longest, sunniest and most popular

island known for its moderate climate and lovely

lavender fields. On arrival, you will have a walking

tour of Hvar Town, a labyrinth of narrow streets

beneath the towns fortress that is rich in historical

and cultural heritage. Evening at leisure. (B, L)

 
DAY 13 TUE CRUISE: HVAR - KORCULA

This morning you cruise to the island of Korcula.

After lunch on board and a stop for swimming, you

arrive for a guided tour of Korculas beautiful Old

Town, its mighty fortress and impressive city walls.

DAY 14 WED CRUISE: KORCULA MLJET

Today you depart Korcula and travel to the island of

Mljet. Enjoy a swim and lunch aboard, whilst

relaxing and enjoying the beautiful scenery of the

eastern Adriatic. Upon arrival, take an optional visit

to picturesque Mljet National Park, then be treated

to a special Captains Dinner. (B, L, D)

 
DAY 15 THU CRUISE: MLJET DUBROVNIK

Today, admire the views, socialise with your new

friends and be served lunch as you cruise to

Dubrovnik. On arrival, you will have an afternoon

tour of medieval Dubrovnik, listed by UNESCO as a

world heritage site. Your tour of the Old Town

includes visits to the cathedral and Franciscan

Monastery which houses Europes third oldest

pharmacy. Enjoy a free evening for your own

activities, such as a romantic stroll along

Dubrovniks wall that encircles the city. (B, L)

 
DAY 16 FRI DUBROVNIK / BUDVA - KOTOR

Today, travel by coach to the Republic of

Montenegro. First you will visit ancient Budva, also

listed by UNESCO, and tour its Romanesque

cathedral. A boxed lunch will be provided as you

travel along the lovely Bay of Kotor where you will

have a city tour. After a full-day excursion, return to

your ship in Dubrovnik. (B, L)

DAY 17 SAT DUBROVNIK

As your tour comes to an end, enjoy a full day

discovering the charms of Dubrovnik at your leisure,

do some final shopping, or relax aboard your ship

where lunch will be provided. For your final evening,

you will be treated to a special farewell dinner at a

local restaurant featuring traditional Croatian

klapa singing (B, L, D)

 

DAY 18 SUN DUBROVNIK

Your Croatia & Slovenia by Land & by Sea tour

concludes after breakfast on the ship. Upon

disembarkation, a departure transfer will be

This cruise is best suited for those seeking a simple yet fun and relaxing way to

explore Dalmatia allowing you to visit areas not easily accessible by larger ships.
 Your ship,

Pape Prvi, was constructed in 2008 and has 15 cabins, an experienced crew

including captain and cook, indoor dining area and sundeck. Cabins are basic (most

with two beds), but very clean and comfortable with private facilities and large fans.

Half-board including daily continental breakfast and lunch featuring local specialties,

will be served daily, as well as a special Captains Dinner. For your comfort and safety,

sails will be put up at the captains discretion. Due to the increasing popularity of the
